Akram Hosny’s career all began with Asaad Allah Masa’akom, in which he played the infamous Sayed Abo Hafeeza and had a whole TV show based on that character’s life. Hosny has also proved himself in other comedy shows and movies, including Rayah El Madam and El Waseya.

However, it’s come to our attention that we’ve never really seen the actor shine on his own, completely solo. Usually, he’s accompanied either by Ahmed Fahmy or Ahmed Amin or other comedic actors. And that’s why we were super excited about Maktoub Alaya—it’s Akram Hosny’s time to shine, and, yes, he’s completely solo! So, it’s time to talk about it!

The Show’s Storyline

Maktoub Alaya tells the story of Galal Ihsan, a music teacher in a school whose life is turned upside down when a beggar he met on the street puts a ‘misk’ scent on his forearm, making the impossible happen. Because of this scent, Galal will now have the events of the day he’s living foretold on his forearm, literally written on him as the show’s name suggests. Naturally, the teacher uses his new ‘gift’ to foresee the future and secure himself the best opportunities in the world, after living a life with nothing but his family and his boring job.

Going through a rollercoaster full of life-changing events, Galal encounters many things he never knew he would face. And he also has a little bit of romance with Salma, the girl he’s in love with.

Our Overall Review

We never thought we’d be so in love with a show after seeing just a couple of episodes, but we can tell you that at some points, we couldn’t hold our laughter—even at the jokes that weren’t really funny. The show is very light, providing a breath of fresh air to the dramatic Ramadan vibe we haven’t been able to escape for the last couple of years.

Another thing we loved about Maktoub Alaya is its cast and its acting, as every cast member gives their best performance. We dare even say that this is one of the best series of Ramadan 2022! In this show, we also get to know some new faces who don’t fail us with their acting skills. We also really loved Ayten Amer, as we saw her in a role that she hasn’t undertaken before—it’s safe to say Maktoub Alaya has truly impressed us!
