The newest release from director Peter Mimi, Mousa, is a sci-fi movie set in Egypt. One of the first Egyptian works to fall under this genre, Mousa combines fantasy, sci-fi, and action elements to bring together a blood-pumping feature.

The movie revolves around an engineering student in college whose father has been killed. In an attempt to avenge his father’s death, the student, Mousa, invents a violent robot through which he hopes he can achieve justice for his father. This leads him to get pursued by the Egyptian authorities.

The movie features many darky and dystopian features, making the work incredibly intriguing, especially considering nothing of the type has ever been done in Egyptian cinema. Moreover, the movie currently holds the record for Egypt’s highest-budgeted sci-fi film. The film has been in the works since October 2019, with production delayed, like many other works, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Luckily, after two years of preparation, Mousa has finally been released.

The movie was written and directed by Peter Mimi, known for his action-packed films, including Kalabsh, Casablanca, and Harb Karmouz. The action flick stars big names like Eyad Nassar, Asmaa Abou El Yazeed, Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, Ahmed Malek, and Mohamed Lotfy. This is Mimi’s second collaboration with Eyad Nassar after working together on Casablanca, which grossed over 80 LE million.

The film was co-produced by Synergy Films, New Century Productions, and Misr International Films.
