Joseph Gordon-Levitt is hot-stuff right now. That skinny, awkward guy you saw in 3rd Rock From the Sun oh so long ago, is now a bonafide Hollywood A-list hunk - he's a pretty good actor, too, and a keen filmmaker in his own right.

The star of Inception, Looper and 500 Days of Summer is currently working on an ambitious short film through his production company, hitRECord, called In a City in collaboration with Samsung.

Inspired by his own ambling walks through cities, the 33 year old actor is calling on filmmakers from around the world - amateur or otherwise - to explore the landscapes and textures of their own cities, with the best ones eventually making their way to the final cut of the film.

Earlier today, Gordon-Levitt sent out a call to Egypt on Twitter.

The project is also on the lookout for writers to put pen to paper and muse about their home cities.
