Other than opinions; whether the critics’ or the audience’s, box office results are one of the greatest indicators of a film’s success. This year, so far, the two films that were highly anticipated; El Feel El Azraa 2 and Welad Rizk 2, are actually ahead in the race. But which one ranks higher?
According to El Watan, El Feel El Azraa’s sequel made box office sales worth EGP 93,800,000 so far. Welad Rizk 2 comes in second place reaching box office sales worth EGP 88,244,000. Could either, or maybe both, ever hit the ‘100 million’ milestone? *fingers crossed*
El Feel El Azraa’s sequel takes place five years after the first part’s paranormal events take place. After Yehia and Lobna get married, a new case arises that puts his family’s life in danger. That’s when he resorts to the famed blue elephant pills once again. The film stars Karim Abdelaziz, Nelly Karim, as well as Hend Sabry and Eyad Nassar, as new fundamental characters to the story.
Welad Rizk’s first part followed the crime-filled life of four brothers. The sequel, on the other hand, fast-forwards to three years later after they try to commit to a better life but end up going back to the criminal world. The cast features the same actors, Ahmed Ezz, Amr Youssef, Ahmed Dawoud, Ahmed El Fishawy, Karim Kassem, and Mohamed Mamdouh. However, some new faces made an appearance in the sequel. Those include Khaled El Sawy, Eyad Nassar, Bassem Samra, Ghada Adel, and Asser Yassin; who’ll be the face of the resulting spin-off.
It's worth mentioning that Saeedy Fel Game'a El Amrikeya is the film that earned the most box office sales in the history of Egyptian cinema, bearing inflation in mind, of course. The iconic Mohamed Heneidy comedy garnered more than EGP 20 million.
