Hey, do you know those thoughts that invade your mind, usually past midnight? Whether you’re thinking about why a kettle is called a ‘barrad’ in Arabic when it actually boils water or a situation from 6 years ago, we know how you feel. However, recently our thoughts took us to a different landscape entirely—one about this year’s rising actors and actresses who have finally gotten their spot in the limelight.

Since those talents have been everywhere (or are about to be everywhere) lately, we decided to share them with you right here!

  1. Rana Raeis

As Shahid VIP screens its hit comedy Mawdoo’ A’eli, Rana Raeis continues to wow us with her portrayal of a realistically-written young woman and with her dynamic with her on-screen dad Maged El-Kedwany. Earlier this year, she also captured our attentions with her heartfelt performance in Yasser Galal’s Del Ragel.

This curly-haired girl is certainly going places and has been ever since her role in Shebr Maya in 2019!

  1. Taha Desouky

It looks like Mawdoo’ A’eli is the gift that keeps on giving because, other than Rana Raes, it also showed us more of what Taha Desouky, 2021’s It Comedy Boy, is capable of. A rising comedian on stage and on TV, Desouky has been everywhere lately and you’ve definitely come across his face through his multiple performances, TV ads included.

If you want to see more of this rising star, check out his attention-grabbing performance in Mawdoo’ A’eli and the giggle-inducing rom-com Far’ Khebra, starring Mohamed El-Sharnouby and Huda El-Mufti.

  1. Jala Hesham

How many of us called this actress something unflattering this year? Honestly, we did so much that we lost count! Although Jala Hesham has been disproving the audience’s false interpretations of her through her interviews, her acting skills had us completely sold!

From Khali Balak Min Zizi to Naguib Zahy Zarkash to Ela Ana’s Season 2 to The Stalkers, Jala has been upping her game through several noteworthy performances. It’s not so easy to leave a mark on Egyptian audiences these, so kudos to her for pulling it off and making it look easy!

  1. Hassan Malek

Every Ramadan, we get introduced to heaps of fresh talents that are set to take the acting world by storm. These past two years, Hassan Malek stole our attention (and our hearts) with his debut role as Ahmed Dawood’s son in Le’bet El-Nesyan and as the bad boy biker who later befriends his on-screen professor Aly Kassem in Khali Balak Min Zizi.

  1. Nour El Nabawy

Having studied acting in the United States, Nour El-Nabawy came back to Egypt and was immediately cast for the second season of popular Egyptian series El-Ekhteyar, giving a remarkable performance as Ahmed Shousha who later gets martyred. If you want to see more of El-Nabaway Junior, you can catch him playing Mahmoud Hemeida’s son in the upcoming series, Na’l ‘Aam.
