Have you ever watched a movie or series and wondered if a particular character could be portrayed by a different actor? Well, there are many iconic roles that were meant to be cast for other actors, but these roles eventually found their rightful owners! How about we tell you about these five actors and their almost-played characters?

1-     Ahmed Helmy (Torab El-Mass)

Our favourite comedic icon and megastar, Ahmed Helmy, was offered the leading role in Torab El-Mass, which was later beautifully portrayed by Asser Yassin. Can you imagine Ahmed Helmy as the gloomy, always-stressed out Taha? Of course, we know that Ahmed Helmy has a wide acting range and can pull off a dramatic character, but we are glad we got to see Asser Yassin as Taha.

2-     Karim Abdel-Aziz (Saye’ Bahr)

The journey of Hantira as the hyperactive, playful guy who was falsely accused of murder could have been depicted by the charismatic Karim Abdel-Aziz. However, this one is hard to imagine because Ahmed Helmy captured the essence of this character too perfectly, and honestly, Karim Abdel-Aziz is too laid-back to pull off the real Hantira!

3-     Roshdy Abaza (Lawrence of Arabia)

The character of Sherif Ali in the controversial movie, Lawrence of Arabia, was played by Omar Sharif, and that role was the stepping stone for him to join the Hollywood elite. Can you imagine that it could have been Roshdy Abaza taking this iconic role and gaining that international recognition? We think it would have been a perfect fit as well because, as we all know, Roshdy Abaza has the charm and talent!

4-     Lobna Abd El-Aziz (Khaly Balak Min Zuzu)

In the famous musical Rom-Com “Khaly Balak Min Zuzu”, the sweetest Soad Hosny impressed us with the role of Zuzu, a college student who had feelings for a theatre director whose fiancée is set on ruining her life. Who can imagine Lobna Abd El-Aziz as the shy yet outgoing, playful Zuzu?

5-     Ahmed Zaki (El-Hareef)

In 1983, Adel Emam blessed us with the iconic movie “El-Hareef”, which revolves around Faris, who struggles with his feelings for his ex-wife, career, and passion for football, though he still manages to keep his cool! This role was originally meant to be portrayed by Ahmed Zaki, but things didn’t go as planned. And we can’t complain about that because Adel Emam gave us the performance of a lifetime!
