When someone mentions Pixar, Luxo the Lamp instantly pops into your head. Sure, you might not know the difference between Disney and Pixar (that is if you aren’t an animation movie enthusiast), but fear not, we’ve got your back on this one!

Founded on the 3rd of February in 1986, Pixar is an animation studio widely known for its great animation and compelling stories. Here’s a little bomb of a tidbit that we’re passing your way—Steve Jobs actually owned the studio for 20 WHOLE YEARS. What can you say? The guy knew the keys to business and success for sure!

Because of Pixar’s success, the Walt Disney Company decided to buy it, but it had a few situations to sort out, which is why the House of Mouse decided to first collaborate with Pixar in the hit animated movie that was Toy Story, with the collaboration being a resounding hit that garnered INSANE recognition and a lot of Oscars.

Following that success, the two studios agreed to work on five more movies for ten years before Disney officially purchased Pixar. The great thing about the biggest animation hubs working together is that they gave us a bunch of gems that made our childhoods much more wholesome. So in honour of Pixar’s anniversary, check out these movies below.

1- Toy Story (1995)

Toy Story was the first-ever computer-animated feature film and Pixar’s first Disney collaboration, so it was only natural it became the highest-grossing film of its year. It’s also why it secured a nomination for an Oscar for best original screenplay and best screenwriting.

We can’t argue that Toy Story is still one of the best animated movies ever made and, to this day, you’ll probably still enjoy watching it if you get the chance. Yes, even if you’re an adult.

2- Monsters Inc. (2001)

Monsters Inc. is everyone’s favourite because, without James P. Sullivan (AKA Sulley) and Mike Wazowski, we would’ve never stopped being scared of monsters under the bed or in the closet.

Mike and Sulley may be the best scarers in Monsters Inc., but they scare because they care. They were also so sweet and caring when it came to the little human girl that turned their world upside down and totally changed our views on all monster stories.

3- Finding Nemo (2003)

We don’t think Finding Nemo is widely known as anyone’s favourite movie, but EVERYONE surely loves it. So much so that even if it brings us to tears every time we see it, we’ll still gladly watch it!

The story is a classic by now. One day, Marlin the clownfish’s son goes missing, so he goes looking for him, crossing oceans to find him. As we get more and more concerned and worried, we also get invested in the heartwarming family bonding that ends up happening. (We also kind of watch it for Dory alone, if we’re being honest).

4- The Incredibles (2004)

Superheroes? Not quite. The Incredibles is a story about people who were born with superpowers and use them to save everyone from evil in a very discreet way until they’re exposed, obviously.

This movie shows us the heroes’ perfect multitasking skills, as they juggle life between being extraordinary people with naturally given superpowers and being ordinary humans navigating a normal world.

5- Ratatouille (2007)

To this day, Ratatouille is a masterpiece in every way possible! From its soundtrack to the beautiful scenery of an animated Paris and the French people (who are spot-on in their mannerisms)!

Everything about this movie and its animation was so perfect that we STILL want to try Remy’s ratatouille. And, let’s be honest for a second here, you DEFINITELY tried

pairing grapes and cheese like Remy does when he shows his cousin how to eat gourmet food.
