If you’re on the social network that’s skyrocketing in popularity nowadays, then you might have stumbled upon Laura, a British-Chinese expat living in Cairo. If not, then let us introduce you, because, after this, we’re pretty sure you’ll be an avid fan.

Known on TikTok as Laura Polly, she first came to Egypt two years ago to learn Arabic, and despite her cute broken accent, she stole Egyptians’ hearts on the platform. She gets the culture, the humour, and has the ability and creativity to come up with well-targeted content. From shattering stereotypes about Egypt to creating her very own meme-like videos about her life here; she’s showing symptoms of Ramadan ads’ addiction. And of course, she also posts videos that answer some of the first-world problems that raise curiosity to Egyptians; such as how to say and write “I love you” in Chinese.

In less than two months, Laura garnered 24,000 followers on TikTok. Check out our favourite videos below.
