#2 What kind of router are you using?

Via 2B

Some routers may be outdated, and therefore, incompatible with higher WiFi standards. You could have a decent internet plan, yet your router might not necessarily support it. If that’s the case, we recommend you’d invest in a VDSL router, which supports higher streaming bitrates.

You can find plenty of options, suiting all budgets, on both Souq and Jumia. You can also ask your internet service provider for available routers.

#3 Update your browser

Via Welt

Which browser are you using? Your browser can determine your upload and download speeds, so make sure you download the latest version of a fast web browser. We highly recommend Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox if you’re using something else.

#4 Turn off extra devices

Via YouTube

Make sure you turn off any unnecessary devices that are connected to your network. This way, you’ll be reducing the load, and therefore increase the speed.

#5 Place your router elsewhere

Via Asus

Believe it or not, but there are home appliances or devices that may interfere with your WiFi signal and slow your internet speed. Those include microwaves, cordless phones, and baby monitors. So, place your router as far as possible from such devices, preferably on a higher level, such as on a shelf or table.

#6 Use an ethernet cable if you can

Via Allconnect.com

If you have an office space at home where you can work near your router or can get an ethernet cable that’s long enough to reach your laptop, then this option would be much faster than using WiFi.
