When you come across the name Omar Samra, the first thing that’ll pop in your head is that, back in 2007, he was the first Egyptian and youngest Arab to climb the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest. In addition to Everest, climbing the highest summits on each of the seven continents, skiing to the South and North Poles, Samra just added one more to his list of achievements. The adventurer, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker was named a Visit Nepal 2020 Goodwill Ambassador of Nepal on May 27th.

As Samra has paid the beautiful country 17 visits, the embassy of Nepal in Egypt has honoured him in return. This took place at a special ceremony which was held at Hotel Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah, where the traveller publicly shared his Everest adventure and gave a heart-warming speech.

This all falls under Nepal’s attempts to attract tourists and promote its beauty to tourists from all corners of the world. The country is rich in surreal landscapes and fascinating culture, and with the famed Himalaya and UNESCO cultural heritage sites up its sleeve, it’s definitely travel-bucket-list-worthy.

It’s also worth mentioning that another Egyptian adventurer recently made it to the top of the world too. Check out the full story of Sherief El Abd’s Everest adventure here.
