Two years ago, we lost one of the most prominent stars in the world of cinema, Shadia. The superstar started her career in 1947 at the age of 16 and announced her retirement in 1984. During the 37 years in the artistic community, she starred in 112 films, 10 radio shows, one drama series, and countless songs.

In the memory of her, here are five things you probably didn’t know about the lady we all love:

#1 Fatma Ahmed Kamal Shaker is her real name. The actor Abdelwareth Aser was the one who gave her the stage name Shadia.

#2 Shadia was married four times. The three that we knew about were to Salah Zou El Fakar, Aziz Fahmy, and Emad Hamdy. She also secretly got married to the journalist, Mostafa Amin.

#3 During her career, Shadia produced only two films; Shate2 El Zekrayat and Leila men 3omry, in which she starred with Emad Hamdi. She did not repeat the production experience because it did not make any satisfying financial returns.

#4 In 1996, the Cairo International Film Festival decided to honour her, and she agreed after being contacted by Saad Eddin Wahba, the festival’s president. However, at the last minute, she apologised and said she couldn’t attend. It was reported at the time that Sheikh Mohammed Metwally al-Shaarawi, who was close to her, is the one who convinced her not to go. Shadia never explained or justified her missing the event.

#5 The religious song Ady Haly w Hal Game3 El Mo2mnen was her last song, then she decided to retire after being heavily influenced by the song.
