Egyptians have always been the glorious ones, haven’t they? The 13th African Swimming Championships (that we all probably knew nothing about) started on the 10th of September, and the Egyptian team has already won 15 medals!
Taking place in Algeria, the championship will end on the 16th of September. Egyptian swimmers have so far managed to win 8 golds, 6 silver, and 1 bronze medal.
The men’s team was awarded a gold medal in the 50m backstroke, 100m butterfly, and 200m freestyle. In the 800m freestyle, Marwan Elkamash won a gold medal, and Marwan El Amrawy won silver. Also, Youssef Elkamash received gold in the 50m breaststroke, and silver in the 100m breaststroke. And finally, Ahmed Hamdi won a bronze medal in the 400m individual medley.
And, our super strong Farida Osman won gold in the 50m butterfly and a silver in the 100m freestyle, whereas Hania Moro was a golden in the 200m freestyle, and Samiha Mohsen and Rowaida Hesham both won silver in the 50m backstroke and 200m breaststroke respectively.
Hey, there’s one more thing; Egypt also won the first place in the mixed 4x100m freestyle thanks to Ali Khalafalla, Mohsen, Osman, and Samy.
