According to a report by Egypt Today, Thomas Cook said that trips to Egypt have increased by 40% year-on-year. The report also highlighted that Marsa Alam and Hurghada have been the top destinations of tourists.

Thomas Cook’s Undersecretary, Hossam al-Shaer, told Egypttoday.com that an increase in tourism to 10 million by the end of 2018 is expected, which will eventually help Egypt achieve the targeted 14 million tourists in 2019 and 20 million tourists by 2020.

Another report by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) marked Cairo as the fastest growing travel destination in its annual City Travel & Tourism Impact Report. It indicated that tourism to the capital has increased by a whopping 34.4% in 2017.

World Travel & Tourism Council report attributes the increase of tourism to more political stability and increased security. Earlier this year in May 2018, TripAdvisor ranked Hurghada as one of the top 25 tourist destinations in 2018.
