After Cameroon has been denied the opportunity to host the African Cup of Nations 2019 due to slow preparations, South Africa and Egypt were the only countries to bid for hosting the tournament. We are pumped because Egypt has fortunately won the bid, with 16 votes against one vote for South Africa.

The last time Egypt has hosted the African Cup of Nations was in 2006, and this time around Egypt will only have six months to prepare for the cup. It is a challenge for our country, but a very welcome one that will – hopefully – increase and encourage tourism.

The tournament will kick off in June 2019; it will be the fifth time for Egypt to host the cup and hopefully the eighth time for Egypt to win the title.

We can’t wait to see how the team will perform, but we have a hunch – and a hope – that we will dominate the competition!
