If anyone ever doubted that SAD (seasonal affective disorder) exists, then you only need to look into the eyes of the nearest person to you to see the deep pain of letting go of Sahel Season. But fear not, because with the focus now back on Cairo, the city's bars and event organisers are ready to unleash the fruit of their loom.
Mahmoud Moodz and Cochlea clan are back in action and they're put together a tidy little line-up for their first party of the fall season. Up-and-comer Mazen Hamdy, queen of the underground, Zeina, and the duo of Moodz and Charlie Edmond, Brute d'Helice, all take to the stage at The Garden Nile Front for hand-rubbingly delicious night of music.
Cairo Jazz Club have their own three-pronged attack oon Friday, meanwhile, with three bar favourites. Nader Tahawy, SHawky and Omar Sherif are no strangers to CJC regulars and they'll be flexing their proverbial musical well into the night.
ARCHIE HAMILTON @ ZIGZAG (Friday)
Zigzag have been teasing the fall season through the summer with its warm-up specials, but the day has finally arrived and they're marking the start of the new season in rather spectacular style, with London lad, Archie Hamilton headlining a night that will also feature Aly B and Karim Soliman.
AGUIZI & FAHIM @ THE TAP EAST (Friday)
Former Student DJ champs and general cheeky chappies, Aguizi & Fahim, are as prolific a duo as you'll find among Cairo's deepening pool of DJs right now. The tech house twosome have had a busy year of releases and big gig, with this weekend seeing them return to The Tap East with Anis.
LOOPERIA PROJECT & BASHEER @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB (Saturday)
While Nubian knight of nightlife Basheer has become a stalwart of CJC's Saturday nights over the years, this weekend will see some new faces make their debut. Fusing Sufi music with that of Gnawa, Looperia Project's unique sound is all about good vibes and a jolliness that you'll rarely find on the music scene.
