With the long 6th of October weekend just hours away, it might be a good idea for all those who are going to Club 88 in Gouna to see Seb Fontaine to brush up on their Roberto Di Matteo knowledge. With the Italian footballer-turned-manager appearing as the special guest at Friday's party, think of these facts as potential conversation starters - because what the hell else are you going to to talk to him about?

1. Born in Switzerland to Italian parents, Di Matteo started his career with Swiss club, Schaffhausen.

2. When he was signed by Chelsea from Italian club, Lazio, in 1996, the transfer fee of £4.9 million was a record for the London club.

3. In 1997, Di Matteo scored the quickest goal in FA Cup Final history – after just 42 seconds. The record stood for 12 years, until it was broken by Everton’s Louis Saha in 2009.

4. Enjoying huge popularity at Chelsea, his career took a turn for the worse in 2000, after he suffered a triple leg fracture – an injury that kept him out for 18 months and eventually forced him to retire.

5. Following spells with MK Dons and West Brom, Di Matteo returned to Chelsea as manager in 2011. He was controversially sacked after just 8 months, despite winning the FA Cup and Chelsea’s first ever Champions League title.

6. It was reported that he was subsequently airbrushed out of several photos of Chelsea’s Champions League celebrations. The more likely story is that they simply replaced a photo that included him with one that doesn't. To airbrush him out would be really mean.

7. Up until 2010, he owned two popular London restaurants with his wife, Zoe – Friends and Baraonda.

8. Following his retirement, Di Matteo completed a business administration degree in Switzerland. He then enrolled in the London School of Economics, but didn’t complete his masters degree.

9. Having been out of football for almost a year, now, he has recently been linked with jobs at Sunderland and Turkish club, Galatasaray. Instead, he's coming to Gouna. Good choice.
