Another busy weekend beckons across the monstrous beast that is Cairo beckons with some of the city's biggest bars, clubs and venues preparing for some of the biggest names in Egyptian music set to perform. Here goes...
YEHYA KHALIL @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Cairo Jazz Club is kicking its weekend off with music royalty; jazz pioneer (and one of the few men that can pull of a white suit), Yehya Khalil, is set to take to the stage with The Egyptian Jazz Fusion Band, for a chic night of music.
DISCO ZAMAN @ GRAFFITI
Back by popular demand, Graffiti at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza is taking a trip down memory lane, with retro-Oriental night, Disco Zaman, where belly-dancer, Oxana, the highlight of a stacked schedule of entertainment.
Friday is a big day for Back 2 Basics, with Ismail Kassem and co launching new series, Limited Edition. The first party is a big one, with Danish DJ and producer, Noir, perched atop a line-up that also includes Ouzo and Sebzz.
Cairo Jazz Club continues its busy weekend with a tribute to one of its favourite DJs, Nader Tahawy. There's to reasons to celebrate this Friday, Tahawy's birthday and anniversary at CJC, with Omar Sherif also set to take to the stage.
ANDROMIDA @ THE TAP MAADI
Having formed some 30 years ago, Andromida have long been lauded for being Egypt's oldest rock band - but they're also actually being one of the best. This weekend, they make a rare nightlife appearance at The Tap Maadi for a special Pink Floyd night.
ANTHEMS III @ ZIGZAG
Having been received excellently with it first two editions, audiovisual series, Anthems, is back at Downtown's Zigzag, with curator, Abou Samra, taking to the stage alongside local up-and-comers, Jimmy and Hazem.
After The Tap East's decidedly chilled weekly brunch, things are set to get distinctly rowdier later in the evening at the New Cairo bar, thanks to the deadly duo of local favourites, kidmims; and Akladios.
MESHWAR & HAWAS @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
As usual, Saturday is considerably quieter than its brothers, Thursday and Friday, but Cairo Jazz Club is set to welcome to of Egypt's most unique bands in reggae-ists, Meshwar, and genre-defying, musical rebel-rousers (see above for proof), Hawas.
