Who didn’t watch Titanic while growing up and cry their eyes out? This American epic romance film that came out in 1997 is one of the most successful movies in history. It is based on a true story with many fictional twists, and, undoubtedly, these twists are what made this James Cameron movie a hit in its time.

Although we have many iconic love stories in Egyptian cinema, we have nothing as poetic as Jack and Rose’s romance. So, why don’t we all imagine what it would be like to have an Egyptian version of Titanic? Let that idea “sink” in!

1-     Jack Dawson (Ahmed Magdy)

Jack, played by a young Leonardo DiCaprio, is portrayed as an itinerant orphan who wins a ticket for the Titanic in a poker game. He sees Rose and falls for her on sight, thus beginning one of the most iconic love stories ever! Many actors were considered by Cameron for Jack’s role, such as Mathew McConaughy, Jared Leto, and Tom Cruise.

But do you know who we should consider? Ahmed Magdy! This young talented actor excels at being the romantic lead in any TV series, and we think he would make an exceptional “Jack”.

2-     Rose Bukater (Mariam El Khosht)

Rose, Kate Winslet’s character, is a new money girl engaged to Caledon Hockley. She wants to explore the world but can’t break free from the lifestyle she’s trapped in. She meets Jack and falls for him, becoming a part of the iconic love story.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, and Winona Ryder were considered for Rose’s role. For our Egyptian version, we would like to see Mariam El Khosht rocking this classic look of dresses and hats. Needless to say, she would be a great partner for Ahmed Magdy.

3-     Caledon Hockley (Ahmed Dawood)

As Rose’s arrogant old-ish fiancé, Cal made life very difficult for everyone around him, especially when he noticed Rose’s affection for Jack. Billy Zane portrayed this role of a snobby heir perfectly, don’t you think?

Now that we think about it, Ahmed Dawood has a knack for playing villains. Didn’t we all see how he excelled in Grand Hotel, being mean and looking dashing in suits? You can definitely picture it, right?

4-     Molly Brown (Sawsan Badr)

Margret Brown is a vulgar new money woman who becomes Jack and Rose’s friend. Portrayed by Kathy Bates, she’s a guest on the Titanic. Molly always helped Jack by giving him tips and suits to attend the fancy dinners in the first-class section. For this kind-hearted role, we can see our iconic Sawsan Badr going around helping the new couple.

5-     Ruth Bukater (Anoushka)

Ruth Bukater is Rose’s widowed mother who arranges her daughter’s engagement to Caledon to maintain her family’s high-society status. Even though she loves her daughter, she believes that social position is more important than having a loving marriage. With that being the case, she highly dislikes Jack and disapproves of their relationship. Who can portray the role of a manipulative, controlling mother figure better than Anoushka? Absolutely, no one!
