As we were checking social media, we came across a campaign that shocked us, to say the least. It’s called #Ostor_Bentak (Cover Your Daughter). Yes, we know how you feel, we’re as disgusted as you’re. And we’re here to tell you all about it.

This campaign kicked off in Jordan on social media platforms days before Ramadan with this hashtag #Ostor_Bentak #5aly_elnas_tsoom (Let People Fast). And because the creators of this derogatory campaign don’t even want to take a woman’s opinions into consideration, they urged the parents to do so.

What made our jaws drop even more was how some people agreed with this hashtag, calling for women to cover up themselves for the sake of the holy month. And in the most disrespectful ways ever. When did women’s clothes become a reason for you to break your fast?

And the more obvious question: why not cover your eyes? The never-ending, blatant accusations that it’s the women’s fault that men’s sexual instincts are aroused, causing them to sexually harass women, and now this! Needless to say, this has all got very out of hand.

Luckily some people were as angry as we were and raised their voices against this campaign, fighting these sick opinions.

How long do we have to wait before women can safely exist in the world? And for how long do we have to put up with this?
