Egypt has been taking several steps to become more environmentally-friendly. It’s now safe to say that we can finally witness our beloved country becoming green again. Part of these promising steps is a campaign that calls for planting rooftops. We’re really excited about the news; it seems that we’re finally getting the roofs of our dreams. This campaign is part of the governorate’s sustainable development plan. Cairo Governor, Khaled Abd El Al, announced this campaign on Sunday in a meeting with Leaders of Sustainable Development and Homeland Acknowledgment 2030 initiatives. The members of these two initiatives will be responsible for raising awareness of the importance of planting gardens on rooftops. Meanwhile, the governor stressed on the fact that residents of the buildings will not bear the costs of planting the rooftops as it’s not their responsibility. Abd El Al also said that the residents’ only responsibility would be taking care of these gardens. This is definitely one of the best highlights of the year, along with MP Anissa Hassouna’s suggestion to ban single-use plastic.
